Meg has always been the butt of the jokes on Family Guy. The family treats her like an outsider and rarely cares about what she gets into or how their treatment of her affects her in the moment or over time. Seth McFarlane has created a dynamic in the family that makes fans insensitive to all the horrible stuff that has happened to Meg. Every season, fans are shocked to see that they have come up with even more horrible things to do to Meg. We can only congratulate Meg for putting up with these 10 cruel misgivings.
10. Gave Meg The Mumps
While at a convention something like ComicCon, Peter and the family force Meg to take a picture with a man who has mumps. Peter mistakingly thinks this man is in a costume. He even calls him a “space alien guy." By the next day, Meg is stuck in bed and has been told by their clueless doctor that she has the mumps.
Peter and Lois neglected to get Meg vaccinated—no surprise here, seeing as she is their least favorite child. The entire family finds this to be the perfect time to play pranks on Meg, even though they know that she is going through painful swelling and is bedridden. Peter throws soup on her and Stewie and Chris roast her and play pranks that physically harm her.
9. Forced To Be A Chauffeur
After Peter loses his license for driving drunk. Meg who is eager to drive more with her new license gets suckered into being his chauffeur. This responsibility becomes too much and leads to the abuse of Meg when her dad allows his drunk friends to be driven around as well. Peter and the gang play dangerous pranks on Meg while she is driving. Cleveland gives her a wet willy, Peter sets her hair on fire and finds it hilarious, eventually extinguishing it with a beer that he shakes up and sprays on her. Peter continues his routine abuse of her until Meg has finally had enough.
8. Used As A Portal For A Poltergeist
When Peter finds a skull with a Native American headdress attached to it, the family realizes that their home was built on an Indian burial ground. Instead of doing the right thing and handing the skull over to the right people to be preserved, Peter abuses it. He pees in it, eats out of it, and even tosses it around.
Eventually, Stewie is taken due to Peter’s bad judgment. The family finds out the portal to get Stewie back is through Meg’s backside. Before the family takes things serious they use the portal to do things like throwing a ball through one side and watching it come out of Meg’s butt. Peter even puts his head through and comes out of Meg’s butt making jokes. This is clearly uncomfortable for Meg because she flinches every time.
7. Left Out Of The Panic Room
When two robbers break into the house, Meg is treated like complete garbage not by the robbers but her own family. It starts when they hear the break-in happening. Peter hits Meg with a bat on purpose because she startled him when she too was startled by the break-in. Then, when they get to the panic room, the family recruits (forces) Meg to climb through the vent and get to the kitchen, but not before they all spit on her you know just to help grease her up to slide through the vent. Then Peter asks Meg to make him a sandwich over the intercom, alerting the robbers to the fact that she is up for grabs and further putting her in danger.
6. Almost Drowning Her
For some reason, the Griffin house begins to flood. Instead of leaving the house and saving themselves, the family sticks around to make a few needless decisions. The water is getting higher and higher, but Peter feels like having a beer. He encourages Meg to use her excellent swimming skills to swim to the kitchen and grab his case of beer from the fridge.
When she does go, her shirt gets caught on one of the hinges of the fridge and she begins to drown. By the time Lois finally begins to show concern and Peter is forced to check on her, she is passed out and floating in the water. FYI Peter chooses to back out of the kitchen and let the situation run its course. Eventually, Meg makes it to the hospital and survives.
5. Mid-Life Crisis Lois
Lois has had a few breakdowns in her life, and one of them happened to involve stealing Meg’s boyfriend. Meg has never had any luck when it comes to life, men, and everything basically. So, when a guy at school finally shows interest in Meg, she snatches him up quickly. Lois meets him, and, since she is currently being treated like crap again by Peter, she leans into the idea of hooking up with the young guy because he complimented her one time. Lois tries on several occasions to get Meg’s boyfriend to touch her, kiss her, whatever. She eventually pounces on him and is caught by Meg.
4. Left Her At A Fire Station
Many parents have a tradition with their kids where they take them to the fire station to look at the cool trucks and learn about fire safety. During the family’s visit to the station with Stewie for the first time, they reminisce about their first time with Meg. In one of their fan-favorite tactics, the show cuts to a flashback that shows a much younger Peter and Lois bringing Meg to the fire station. They creep up to the door, put Meg down on the dirty stoop, and run away. We aren’t sure what happened afterward, but, years later, Meg is still the bane of their existence
3. Sold Into Slavery
In the earlier seasons of Family Guy, Neil Goldman was obsessed with Meg. He still kind of is but there is less emphasis on it. This could be because he has had a few chances to hook up with her and they always turn sour. One of those incidents was because of Peter (of course). He had outstanding debt at Neil’s dad’s business Goldman’s Pharmacy. However, he kept racking up debt and eventually couldn’t pay any of it.
His solution was to sell Meg to Neil so he could have the girl of his dreams. Meg ended up being treated like a slave by Neil, and her complaints fell on deaf ears when it came to her family.
2. Meg Sticks Up For Herself
Spoiler alert: it backfires on Meg hardcore. During a storm, the family is forced to hang out with one another. Since there is no TV or other forms of entertainment, the family starts to hate on Meg. You know, the usual stuff. But, Meg decides that she has had enough and calls out her family for treating her like crap and listing some of their bad traits and how they treat her.
Lois is hit the hardest and begins to cry, the family tuns on Meg once again, and she goes to her room. She quickly realizes that without her being treated like a punching bag, her family is a mess. She ends up apologizing and taking the blame for all their bad behavior. To which Lois asks “how can you do this to us?" Great parenting, mom.
1. Erased Meg From Existence
By now you can guess that Meg is the least favorite cast character on Family Guy, which is why it comes as no shock that Peter tried to erase her existence. Peter and his friends go on a quest to find God to ask him to stop messing with their favorite Football team and let them start winning again.
Unfortunately, the deal Peter made was shady as hell, as he promised God (yes, they found him) that they would make athletes always say “thank God” when they score, and he will stop messing with them. In return, Peter asked for a favor, and it was to have Meg just disappear so they don’t have to deal with her. He did it, and it was as crazy awkward watching meg slowly disintegrate and Peter telling the family yo just ignore her while it happens.
